Like many Americans, we were both laid off in January 2009, and to make things even more interesting, we were expecting a baby. In February 2009, we were blessed with the birth of our baby girl, Sofia. At just eleven weeks we took her to see the Washington Nationals play the St. Louis Cardinals at the new Nationals Ballpark in Washington, DC, not knowing that this would be the first of thirty ballparks that we would visit on the road trip of a lifetime.
Still unemployed and job-searching, we drove to Indiana for a job interview which did not turn out as we planned. It was here at the "Crossroads of America" that we would embark on the ultimate journey to visit all 30 Major League Baseball ballparks with baby Sofia in tow.
We created a website and dubbed our tour "30 Ballparks and a Baby" so that our family, friends and fans of baseball could live vicariously through our fantastic journey.
After visiting all 30 MLB ballparks Roberto decided to change his career focus and is transitioning into the sports industry. To help him in the transition, he has enrolled in Georgetown University’s Sports Industry Management program and blogs about his sports experiences.
